The Catenians Pilgrimage to Fatima, On the Occasion of the Centenary of the Apparitions by Our Lady in 1917

Travelling on the 29th March - 3rd April.
Extended tour information below.
ITINERARY

Since 1917, millions of pilgrims have visited the sanctuary of Fatima in northern Portugal to call on the protection of Our Lady who appeared here to three shepherd children for six months in succession instructing them to convey her message to the world that mankind should show penance for their sins and pray the rosary every day. Our pilgrimage will anticipate the 100th anniversary of the apparitions. The three, originally secret, messages of Fatima were for prayer, reparation, repentance and sacrifice, and the abandonment of sin.

The first secret was a vision of hell which contrasts with the heaven previously shown to the children by Our Lady. The second secret included Mary's instructions on how to save souls from hell and convert the world to the Christian faith. The third secret gives a vision of the death of the Pope and other religious figures. The message shows a flaming sword coming into contact with Our Lady and dying out, suggesting that in the end, good triumphs over evil.

Scheduled flights from London and Manchester, as well as from Dublin to Lisbon. Meeting and assistance on arrival, for a panoramic tour of Lisbon and time for lunch at choice. After celebrating Mass here, we travel for approximately one and a half hours by coach, and check into our 4-star hotel in Fatima for dinner and a five night stay. On each evening of our stay, if the tourchlight procession takes place, we will be welcome to participate.

Lunch is included in the hotel today, after which we proceed to Aljustrel for Stations of the Cross and to visit the Shrines of the Apparitions of Our Lady and the angels, and to see the homes of the children, and possibly relatives of Jacinta (and Francisco) and Lucia. Also, the Fatima wax museum, next to the sanctuary is worth a visit where the story of the Fatima witnesses and other historical events is told through wax figures. Lunch is at choice today and dinner will be in our hotel.

DAY FIVE: SUNDAY 2nd APRIL
Tomar
Tomar has been a Catholic town since the taking back of this part of Portugal from the Moors in the 12th Century. At first it was under the command of The Knights Templar, who constructed the awesome castle and convent of the order of Christ, which became the Templar headquarters. In 1314, when the Templars were being suppressed by the Papacy, a new order, the Knights of Christ was established. The Convento de Christo is one of the most magnificent buildings in Portugal and we will have a guided visit spending some time here before continuing to the Church of St John the Baptist and the Chapel of our Lady of the Conception. The rest of the day will be at leisure. Mass will be celebrated at one of the churches in Tomar. Return to Fatima in the late afternoon.
