The Journeys of Saint Paul
After his dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus, Paul the Apostle spread the Christian faith untiringly throughout the Roman Empire, preaching mainly in synagogues, that Jesus was the Son of God. The present-day pilgrim can follow Paul on his missionary journeys, and also on his final journey to Rome to be tried for his life before the Emperor Nero, where he established new Christian communities and brought support to existing ones.
Pope Benedict XVI has dedicated a special Jubilee year to the apostle Paul from 28th June 2008 to 29th June 2009, on the occasion of the Bi-millennium of his birth, which historians have placed between the years 7-10AD. The Holy Father also stresses the ecumenical dimension of this anniversary. “The Apostle to the gentiles, who was especially committed to taking the good news to all peoples, left no stones unturned for unity and harmony among all Christians.”
