What's New

July 15, 2014

I feel as if I have just come out of a Monastery, silent for months, but bursting to tell the world what has been happening since early May. Before I do that, however, I must thank Robert, Ludo and Regelle from my young team at Pax for introducing our sparkling new website.

I think that it looks much better than the old one and has new sections showing examples of past pilgrimages we have organised for parishes, dioceses and schools, as well as details of future trips. It is now much easier to fill in a booking form online and send it to us. You can also read what people who have been on one of our pilgrimages think of their time spent on a Pax pilgrimage. I have just been on one myself, with my own Catholic parish of Holy Trinity and St Augustine,Baldock, along the Camino de Santiago. We travelled in the comfort of an air-conditioned coach from Bilbao to Burgos, and thence to Leon, and to our journey's end at Santiago de Compostela. Twenty seven of us, including our parish priest, Father Denis, two other Catholic priests from Kilkenny, two wonderful nuns, both Sisters of Divine Providence, and two Anglican priests. Oh, and there were twenty members of the laity including yours truly. Daily Mass in Cathedrals and Basilicas along the way,and in Santiago itself, the companionship of seventeen members of our own parish and ten Catholics and Anglicans from places as far flung as London and Singapore, shared meals and conversations, and suddenly it is all over and we are back to reality, and grateful to be alive. A wonderful interlude, and seeing the joy in people's faces made it more than worthwhile. My next trip? Judith and I are off to Norfolk, to Walsingham (after Assisi, my favourite place of pilgrimage) and then in September, to Ravenna and Urbino with a small group. Why not join us?
