Pilgrimage to Oberammergau & Munich

DAY ONE: Heathrow - Munich - Oberammergau
Scheduled flight from Heathrow to Munich. Transfer by coach to the village of Oberammergau where we check into our hotel accommodation for dinner and a two night stay.
DAY TWO: Oberammergau
The morning is at leisure in the picturesque village of Oberammergau. After lunch at around noon (at choice), the Passion Play commences at 2:30pm, with an interval at 5pm during which we will be served a three course dinner, before witnessing the second part of the Passion Play which finishes at 10:30pm, after which we walk the short distance back to our hotel.
Oberammergau - Ettal Abbey - Linderhof Palace - Neuschwanstein Castle - Landshut
After breakfast, we depart Oberammergau and travel to Ettal Abbey, a Benedictine Monastery in the village of Ettal. The abbey was founded in 1330 and is home to more than 50 monks. After a short visit, we continue to Linderhof where we visit the Palace, built by King Ludwig II and is the smallest of his three palaces. Here we will have some time to explore before transferring onto Fussen. After lunch at choice, we visit Neuschwanstein Castle, a 19th century palace. After time at leisure to walk around the castle, we transfer to Landshut where we check our hotel for a 4 night stay. Dinner will be in our hotel on each night of our stay in Landshut.
DAY FOUR: Munich
After breakfast, we have a guided tour of the city, including the Theatinerkirchner, Frauenkirche (once the cathedral of Cardinal Ratzinger), the Marienplatz, the Square which is at the heart of Munich and the Peterskirche, where Mass will be celebrated. On the 27th June 1977 Ratzinger was elevated to Cardinal Archbishop of Munich by Pope Paul VI. Years earlier, he had spent time as a student at the Ludwig- Maximilian-University (also known as the University of Munich). He also served as a young Priest at two Munich Churches: St Martin’s Parish Church in Munich-Moosach, and the Church of the Precious Blood (Heilig Blood) in Bogenhaussen. Lunch will be at choice. The afternoon will be at leisure in Munich.
DAY FIVE: Chiemsee - Altotting
After breakfast, we drive to Gstadt am Chiemsee where we board the boat that takes us to Chiemsee, one of two islands on Lake Chiemsee. Here we will visit the Herrenchiemsee Palace, formerly the site of an Augustinian monastery, constructed in the 19th century. We have a guided tour of the New Palace and the opportunity to visit the King Ludwig II museum, and the Augustinian Monastery. We will have the opportunity to purchase lunch on the island. In the early afternoon, we take the boat back to Gstadt am Chiemsee where we meet our coach for the transfer to Altotting where we visit one of Germany’s most well known pilgrimage shrines. Time at leisure to explore the shrine and Alotting before the transfer back to Landshut.
DAY SIX: Garmisch Partenkirchen - Zugspitze
After breakfast, we drive to Garmisch Paternkirchen which the opportunity to explore the town. After time for lunch (at choice), we take the cog wheel train and cable car up to Germany’s highest peak, Zugspitze, for a 360 degree panorama. We return to our to our hotel in the late afternoon.
DAY SEVEN: Munich - Heathrow
After breakfast, and time at leisure, we check out of our hotel and transfer to Munich Airport for our return flight to Heathrow.

This tour involves a substantial amount of walking, some of which will be over irregular surfaces such as cobblestones and badly-maintained walking areas. If everyday walking is something you find difficult, this tour may be unsuitable for you.

All current airport departure taxes. 1 piece of checked in luggage. 2 night’s accommodation in shared* twin or double-bedded accommodation in Oberammergau (3 stars). 4 night’s accommodation in shared* twin or double-bedded rooms in 3-star hotels: Landshut. 6 breakfasts and 6 dinners. Tickets for the Passion Play. Guided tour as per the itinerary. Airport transfers and touring by coach as per the itinerary. Entrance fees as per the itinerary. Arrangement of religious services where possible. ATOL and ABTA financial protection.
* If you select to share a twin room when booking but have no one to share with, we will try to pair you up with someone of the same gender in the group. However, if there is no one available to pair you up with we will charge a supplement of £125 as you would have single occupancy of the rooms.

Terms of Payment:
A non-refundable deposit of £250 (plus the insurance premium if the cover we offer is required) per person on booking with a completed booking form. A further non- refundable payment of £400 per person to be paid on 1st March 2019. A further non- refundable payment of £400 per person to be paid in 1st December 2019. The balance payment is due no later than 1st April 2020. Final payment is due no later than 20th July 2020.
The tour price of £1249 is guaranteed until 1st February 2019.. Any further bookings may be subject to a flight surcharge.
