Blessed Christmas and Prosperous New Year
I should like to wish all Pax Travel clients a blessed Christmas and prosperous New Year.
We have been overwhelmed by your positive comments about your experiences of pilgrimages you have made with us during 2015. I personally read every feedback form that is sent to us, and I am constantly touched by your kind remarks.
Highlights of the year included the November pilgrimages by Aid to the Church in Need to Egypt to meet with local Christians (as well as to cruise from Aswan to Luxor!) and by pilgrims from Westminster Cathedral, led by Canon Christopher Tuckwell, to the Holy Land, which, returning pilgrims tell me was the best so far.
In January, I embark on my 39th year of directing Pax Travel, which I believe makes me the Doyen (how appropriate) of pilgrimage operators in England and Wales. If I survive my date with the surgeons in January, I will be delighted to welcome you on one of our pilgrimages to Rome to pass through the door of mercy opened by Pope Francis in St Peter's Basilica for the jubilee year. Or else you might like to join Canon Christopher Tuckwell in St Petersburg and Helsinki in June, or in Sicily in October.
Our two iconic pilgrimages are: the retracing of the route taken by St Augustine from Rome to Canterbury, in September, and the visit to Berlin and Flossenberg, in the Steps of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, led by Bishop Christopher Chessun in October.
Whatever you do, please love your neighbour as yourself! To me, there is nothing more important, although I am not going to indulge in a philosophical discussion about who my neighbour is!!
I promise to do my best to observe this commandment in 2016.
